  1. Fun in the 1900s History Center - Transportation

    August 19, 2017, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ Pennypacker Mills

    Come to Pennypacker Mills for an exciting day of interactive fun for kids! Visit the History Center in our barn and discover the options for transportation in the early 1900’s from horse-drawn carriages, Model T Ford cars, trains or just walking! See an antique horse-drawn carriage, ride our carriage too! The air conditioned mansion will be open for guided tours too.

    August 19, 2017, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM @ John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove

    Join us for a guided bird walk at Mill Grove. We’ll visit the creek, cross the meadows, and hike through the woods on both paved and unpaved trails. Children and beginners are welcome! We have extra binoculars, so don’t worry if you forget yours or don’t have them. Walks begin in the main parking lot. Facebook will be updated by 7:00 am the day of each walk if we need to cancel due to inclement weather. No registration needed. All ages; free.

    Want to know how to enhance your property with native plants while engaging in an exciting new program with National Audubon Society. Adults will be learning about the importance of native plants while taking a bird walk on the property. Kids will be doing plant drawings, planting native seeds in take home containers, and exploring the grounds. All families will be enrolled in the native plant program and will have take-home activities and resources. All ages; free.

  6. Canoe/Kayak Float (1:00-3:00 PM) and Locktender's Open House (3:00-4:00 PM)

    August 20, 2017, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Lock 60 at Schuylkill Canal Park

    Paddlers will meet in the boat launch parking lot at Lock 60 at 1:00 pm and will paddle 2.5 miles down the Schuylkill River, portage about 200 yards to the canal, and paddle up the canal to Lock 60. The paddle takes approximately 2 hours, depending on stops. Pre-registration & life jackets are required. All ages with adult supervision; free, donations accepted.

  10. Butterfly Celebration

    August 26, 2017, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Upper Schuylkill Valley Park

    Come and help us celebrate this amazing little insect, the butterfly. This annual program will include information on tagging, feeding and raising butterflies. This year will feature local butterfly enthusiast Ron Richael. There will be hands-on activities for the kids and much more. If the weather allows, we will be releasing the tagged monarchs so they can begin their migration south. Weather permitting…all activities will be outdoors. All ages; suggested donation $4 per person.

    Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds Jeanne Sorg partners with State Representative Steve McCarter, taking the Veterans' Discount Identification Card program to his senior fair at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel in Elkins Park. All Montgomery County veterans are welcome. Please bring a photo ID (such as a drivers’ license) and your DD214 to receive the discount ID card.
